winBIO has been developed to provide a logical and simple interface for describing multiple step processes.
Simplified user interface
While flexibility to create any recipe is normally important, it can also be intimidating to infrequent users, especially if the recipe is complex and not created by the operator themselves. winBIO supports the use of simple edit forms that can be used to enter key variables into a recipe to ensure that it is not accidentally altered.
Recipe creation
Experimental plans consisting of logical steps that follow the users requirements - termination of each step can be based on time; any measured variable or any calculated parameter using measured data.
Multi-variable control
Control of any parameter (e.g. temperature, pH, feed rate) can be related to any number of measured variables through a user-defined mathematical relationship. For example, FTIR data could be used - on line - to provide feed-back control of pH to suppress formation of a by-product. Similarly, Turbidity measurements are being used to automatically generate metastable zone width plots. Highly complex multi-functional polymers are being produced by automatic addition of several different reagents and different stages of the process. Many of these features are client specific but can be made available.
Real-time editing
Most of our clients are involved in R&D where the ability to change recipes easily is important. winBIO is ideally suited to this - all changes are logged so that at the end a correct record of the procedures is available. However, where it is desirable, we can limit the extent of change permitted and thus ensure repeatability of operation.
FDA compliant data
When necessary, we can include provisions for limiting user access to authorized staff and ensure the integrity of the data, so that a client's application for FDA compliance is
successful.
Graphical data
Multiple plots, separately configurable allowing easy visualization of multiple sets of data, all in real time.
Recipe Jumps and Loops
Recipe steps don't have to follow in sequence: you can create jumps or loops based on selected Boolean logic statements of any complexity. This is a special feature that can be made available upon request.
Safety
Any system variables can be used to trigger alarms and shutdowns. Shut-down procedures can be totally user-defined.
Networking
Where the data from the control PC needs to be viewed remotely, networking is possible. This facility is also user-specific.
